(Poem about my Dad and I)
When I was a young man,
With fire up in my soul
I thought I knew everything,
But it was a trip down ignorance lane
That I did stroll.
I’d like to say I’m sorry,
For the things I said to you.
They should have never been said,
Even though I thought they were true.
It was a misunderstanding we had between us,
Cause I thought you were an old fool.
They should have put me in the corner,
I should have sat quietly and listened,
As I sat on the dunces stool.
Age has crept up on me.
It was a slow trip that’s for sure.
I’ve learned a thing or two,
And now I know that my love for you was pure.
But now you are in heaven,
And these things I can’t say to your face.
I’ve failed a bunch of time.
God sure put me in my place.
So if I go to heaven when I die,
And I can stand by your side.
I’d hope you can forgive me,
And it’s my love for you,
that you can abide.
When I was a young man,
With fire up in my soul
I thought I knew everything,
But it was a trip down ignorance lane
That I did stroll.
I’d like to say I’m sorry,
For the things I said to you.
They should have never been said,
Even though I thought they were true.
It was a misunderstanding we had between us,
Cause I thought you were an old fool.
They should have put me in the corner,
I should have sat quietly and listened,
As I sat on the dunces stool.
Age has crept up on me.
It was a slow trip that’s for sure.

And now I know that my love for you was pure.

And it’s my love for you,
